Interpreting the Landscape
This promises to be a pretty fun day including a little walk to the State Park and an opportunity to sample Kerrie’s homemade 3 course lunch. This will be a relaxed time of creativity and demonstration mixed with exercises and handy tips from Richard. We will be looking at how to construct a successful painting using composition and tone, how to loosen up your mark making and how to engage the viewer with colour and texture. All mediums welcome.
Outline of the Day
9:30 - 10:00 - Morning cuppa and introduction
10:00 - 11:00 - We walk 10mins to the local National Park where we sketch the landscape and take photos.
11:00 - 12:30 - Return to Richard’s studio where we compose and block in the subject on the canvas, board or your preferred material with media of your choice.
12:30 - 1:30 - Lunch
1:30 - 4.00 - Add colour and texture, details and atmosphere to complete the painting.
4:00 - 5:00 - Afternoon tea and plenary session where we discuss the process and progress and display the completed works.
