Well the Paris trip is finally here, and my exhibition at the Galerie Mona Lisa starts on September 29th. It's a joint show with two Ukrainian painters and I am both nervous and excited...
Really not sure how my work will be received by the Parisians...will they want local familiarity or exotic Aussie scenery? Well hopefully I've got both covered but I'm really just looking forward to the whole experience and to spending 4 weeks in Paris and Provence...ooh la la!

"Remembered Landscape Near Lithgow" 122X122cm With the Wynne Prize quickly approaching I have decided to submit this new painting from my Remembered Landscapes series. The prize is Australia's premier landscape prize and competition to be a finalist is high, so I have my fingers, toes and everything else crossed! On another note, I am thrilled that my series "First Light, Bombo Quarry" has been selected as a finalist in the NSW Parliament Plein Air Prize. The show will be on at Parliament House in Sydney until July 31st. The winner of the prestigious $20,000 prize this year was Evan Salmon with a wonderful series of studies of Port Kembla. It's been a great month for me and my painting "Cliffs at Bombo" has also been selected as a finalist in the Waverley Art Prize. Still waiting to hear who the winner is...promises to be a tough competition based on the standard of entries I have seen so far. The Waverley Art Prize will be on show at Waverley Woollahra Art School from July 3-12. Well it's been quite the month with a whirlwind trip to the sub-continent, including Kashmir, Rajasthan and cruising the backwaters of Kerala. Here's a couple of little paintings I completed on return... Morning Bathers at the Ganges Rickshaw Ride Exploring childhood memories of family holidays to Bathurst in the 1970s...the road out west offered ample opportunities for daydreaming, observation and backseat arguments with siblings...
This started as underpainting but I liked the simplicity and spontaneity of it. I painted the first version of Burnt Forest over 25 years ago, so I guess this one was a long time in the making...
