Somewhere in the Loire Valley, we passed this quiet farmhouse tucked between rows of trees and open fields. The air was still, but the sky was doing something theatrical—clouds parting just enough to light up the roof like a spotlight. 

There’s a soft grandeur here, the kind that sneaks up on you. You start out just admiring the light, and end up wondering who built the house, who planted the trees, and how long they've been keeping each other company.
