Between Mondays

I like to imagine the person who lives here pretends they’re more organised than they are.

They say things like “I’m simplifying.”
But they still have four plants and a guitar they can’t quite play.

They open the windows wide.
They mean to start fresh every Monday.

But mostly they sit here, watching the boats drift across the harbour, and think,
“This will do.”
