Notes From a Quiet House

I don’t know who lives here, but I’ve been quietly painting their windowsill in my imagination for years.

Maybe they’re out back pruning a fig tree. Maybe they’re still in bed, letting the sun do its slow morning lap across the kitchen.

All I know is: someone left the lemons in a hurry, the coffee’s still warm, and I’m just the painter watching the light catch on everything they forgot to finish.
